Hobart is set to host the sixth edition of the seven-a-side Gaelic football competition this weekend, Saturday 16 November.
Having hosted the inaugural Australasia Regional Games in 2017, the competition is back to the Tasmania state capital, where 4 women’s and 6 men’s teams will compete.
In the men’s competition, Ballarat Clovers, Geelong Gaels, Gold Coast Gaels, Young Melbourne and two Tasmania teams will battle it out, while the women’s football competition will feature Geelong Gaels, Gold Coast Gaels, a Ballarat Clovers/Young Melbourne amalgamation, and Tasmania.
Gold Coast Gaels (men) and Geelong Gaels (women) will be vying for back-to-back titles, while hosts Tasmania will be hoping home advantage can get them over the line for their first Regional Games silverware.
Round-robin games kick off at 9am at Rugby Park, with the finals scheduled for 2pm (men’s) and 3pm (women’s). Both finals will be livestreamed on the Australasia Gaelic Games Facebook page and YouTube channel.
On behalf of Tasmania GFHA and Australasia Gaelic Games, a huge thanks this year’s tournament sponsors: The New Sydney Hotel; Transportation Whiskey; Optimum Health Solutions, the Allurity Hotel and the Tasmanian Times. Also, we would like to thank Michelle O’Bryne MP and The Honourable Nick Duigan MCL for their generous donations to the tournament.
