Australasia Gaelic Games welcomes ASC’s sweeping investment

Australasia Gaelic Games welcomes the Australian Sports Commission’s (ASC) sweeping investment package for Australian sport.

Some $385m will be invested in 70 sports – including Gaelic games – over the next 18 months, ensuring Australians have world class pathways and support at all levels of sport, from participation to high performance.

Australasia Gaelic Games are among five sports organisations to receive funding for the first time, along with Australian Dragon Boat Federation, Handball Australia, Australian Flying Disc Association, and American Football Australia.

“As we celebrate 50 years of our organisation, this funding marks a significant milestone in the development of Gaelic games in Australia. It reflects the incredible growth we’ve achieved thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and players”, says Australasia Gaelic Games President, Ned Sheehy.

“More importantly, it will provide the essential support we need for future development, helping to improve our practices and strengthen the sustainability of our clubs and state associations across the country.”

Ned continued, “Australasia Gaelic Games is an inclusive organisation, and this support enables us to showcase our sport to Australians from all walks of life. It will assist us in increasing participation, particularly in our growing urban centres, as well as in regional areas where Gaelic games clubs are continuing to establish themselves.”

“With many Australians already enjoying Gaelic games, including Australian-born youth and adult teams who have represented Australasia in international competitions, we look forward to creating even more playing opportunities for everyone.”
