Hobart Harps and Launceston Gaels set for historic Gaelic football clash

Hobart Harps and Launceston Gaels men’s footballers do battle in the first-ever Tasmania state league game this weekend.

The Gaels, recently formed in the northern city of Launceston, pose a fresh new challenge to the Hobart-based club, the keepers of the Gaelic games flame on the Apple Isle for more than 20 years.

The new league features men’s and women’s seven-a-side competitions, with five rounds to be played across Hobart and Launceston.

Launceston will host the first game, with throw-in scheduled for 2.30pm on Saturday 25 October at Royal Park. A mixed social game to follow.

Congratulations to all involved in reaching this major milestone for Gaelic games in Tassie.
