Welly shines for New Zealand Championships

The New Zealand Championships – the furthest Gaelic games tournament from Ireland – took place in Wellington on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 March, as 23 teams from across the country gathered for a fantastic weekend of games in beautiful conditions.

It was a particularly memorable weekend for Queenstown Gaels, who made history by winning both the women’s and men’s senior football championships for the first time – a remarkable achievement and a proud moment for the South Island club.
